First Trip 6/28/25

Today we went to Lake 22 as a family and it was wonderful! Mom, Dad, Kirill, Mike, and me. Everyone except Ella; she went to Soap Lake with her grandparents. This trip was fantastic. I went running ahead of everyone and got up within 50 min, which is not bad for 2.5 mi and 1300 ft of elevation. I am happy with that time.

I found a nice spot at the top and waited for the rest of my family to make it up in the sun. The hike up was actually really nice; there are plenty of flat and technical areas, a good mix. The one downside that I did not like was the number of people there.

We went on Saturday and it was completely crowded; I passed around 40 people climbing up. At the top there also were about 50 people; they did not spread out around the lake, they mostly were at the beginning of the lake, so it was pleasant to go to the other side and sit in the peaceful quiet of nature.

When we all got there, we ate our food: some boiled eggs, cucumbers, bread, and some candy on top. You need to trust that simple food like that tastes much better at the top of a hike.

In addition, my mom, Kirill, and I went in for a swim in the lake! It was freezing but so refreshing! I was not expecting to swim and did not grab any spare clothing, but it was not a huge problem as I dried up on the way down.

When we got to the bottom of the hike, there is this amazing taco truck! The food there was fantastic. I got the supreme burrito and so did Mike; Mom and Dad got tacos and Kirill the quesadilla. Man, that food was tasty!
